Technical Lead (ETL)
General Description
The Technical Lead will lead a team of developers, responsible for analyzing the business requirements, and providing solutions to design, develop and implement highly efficient, highly scalable ETL processes. Candidate is required to perform daily and project functions with a focus on meeting the business objectives on time within a rapidly changing work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Project Managers, Business Analysts and BI Architect to understand business requirements, providing expert knowledge and solutions on Data Warehousing, ensuring delivery of business needs in a timely cost–effective manner
- Assist in developing project plans, assigning the appropriate technical resources and cost estimations
- Design data collection, data staging, data movement, analytics delivery, data quality and archiving strategies
- Lead and guide the ETL developers in data profiling, source-target mappings, ETL development, SQL tunings and optimization, testing and implementation
- Provides reviews of deliverables and identifies gaps/areas for improvement
- Provide/reviews detailed technical specifications and ETL documentations required in each phase of the SDLC, and complies to internal standards and guidelines
- Identify opportunities to optimize the ETL environment, implement monitoring, quality and validation processes to ensure data accuracy and integrity
- Provide 24x7 post–implementation supports, responds to problem quickly and provide both short and long term resolutions, if and when need it
- Provide end-users supports including business queries and requests, if and when need it
- Provide subject matter expertise in the technologies used to deliver EDW
- Support capacity planning, disaster recovery, and assist IT Infra in architecture planning and design through
- Provide technical support in IT and business teams
- Design and develop business presentation layers for optimum performance and security
Key Skills
- A self–motivated personality with leadership abilities; able to work efficiently by himself/herself, as well as, in a team
- Strong conceptual, analytical and communications skills
- Strong technical design skills in particular Teradata and Unix
- Subject matter expertise in Teradata used to deliver EDW
- Understanding of the capabilities of vendor infra structure products in particular BI area, including Teradata, SAS, BO, CRM solutions
- 4–8 years IT experience, with both hands–on and lead experience in providing data warehousing solutions
- Technically strong in ETL concept, design, and development using tools like Data Stage, ODI/Sunopsis and Teradata database utilities.
- Ability to lead a team of ETL developers to meet project objectives, tracking of status and reviewing deliverables at every stage of the SDLC.
- Ability to identify required tasks and accurately determine needed resources and timeframes to complete a project and enhancements
- Candidates should have domain knowledge in at least one of the following areas: Banking and Financial, Risk Management, MIS, Basel II and Marketing Analytics.
- Must possess the following technical skills:
- ETL Tools: Datastage, ODS/Sunopsis
- Databases & Utilities: Teradata & utilities, Oracle 8i/9i/10g, PL/SQL, SQL Loader
- Platforms: NCR/AIX Unix and shell scripting
- Interface Tools: Connect Direct, Secured FTP, DB2 Connect
- Jobs Schedulers (preferably Control–M)
- Knowledge of FSLDM and modelling concept is a plus
