PROJECT BACKGROUND:
This project proposal extends investments from B&CPR Wave 1 and Basel II PAR 7 and provides a critical component of the WB infrastructure vision:
- B&CPR: The overall objective of B&CPR is to create a scalable and robust infrastructure to deliver superior information and analytics on WB’s performance, and assist the business to identify and manage opportunities and risks to drive competitive advantage and capital optimisation in a postBasel II AIRB environment.
- Basel II: The Basel II sourcing objective is to progressively extend portfolio coverage and integrity of data to nontop 10 countries to improve our RWA and regulatory capital calculations, and unwind capitalinefficient data assumptions currently applied. Additionally, the FSA has sought for SCB to demonstrate a “Use-Test” of Basel II risk and capital models which can only be provided by a common data warehouse supporting both Basel II regulatory reporting and business performance management.
- WB Infrastructure: This project represents a critical component of WB’s infrastructure vision of creating a single WB Data Warehouse to support WB’s 2011 business vision. This infrastructure also underpins reengineering objectives of Business Finance, Product Control and Middle Office activities to provide greater value adding, advisory and control services necessary to meet the challenges of the 2011 vision.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
The business analyst team will provide the business intelligence in sourcing for data from the source systems, as well ensure that the extracted data can be compiled using correct formulae into the relevant information required for the output figures.
- Ensure data quality delivery from source systems through the DW to the Fermat calculation engine.
- Ensure data specifications meet business requirements, e.g Basel, Client profitability, AML etc.
- Writing and owned the Business Requirement Specification (BRS) and Functional Specification (FS) through collaboration with country operation, source system developer and product managers in defining data sourcing requirements from transaction processing systems.
- Work closely with technology to develop solutions/workaround for extracting accurate information
- Perform Data Acceptance Testing (DAT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure data is sourced as per specified in our BRS and FS
- Work closely with Data Quality Management Unit in ensuring group data quality standards are meet and synchronized.
- Work closely with Fermat development team in ensuring data sourced met fermat engine requirements.
- Review impact on support processes to define operational process changes as required.
The country lead is a country facing role with data sourcing ownership as well as data quality ownership.
For candidate who has the potential to perform the role of a country, they will be required to perform the following roles in addition to the BA roles above.
- Responsible for end to end project deliverables for the country.
- Ensure engagement model and deliverables are clear to all members participating in country visit and define deliverables for the visit.
- Get the Country’s PSC commitment to ensure buyins for the project and to keep the PSC fully informed of changing priorities and demands
- Escalate any potential delays in Project Deliverables and suggest work around or resolve with parties to ensure timeline and deliverables are met.
- Work closely with BAs and technology to develop solutions/workarounds for extracting accurate information
- Ensure existing BAU issues and risks are escalated and addressed by MIS Ops.
- Support data diagnostics in source systems across all WB locations to define and implement data sourcing from GL and transaction processing systems.
- Perform diagnostics, evaluate compliance with approved data standards, and recommend data standardization at source system and DW layers.
- Perform product mapping analysis, highlight inconsistencies / inadequacies, make recommendations for standard product mapping of Japanese TPs.
- Review support processes to define operational process changes required.
- Support problem evaluation, trouble shooting and quality assurance for all data sourced into the DW.
- Ensure that data sourcing processes across countries and across products are streamlined and effective and that the correct information is being sourced.
- Chair monthly CWC (country working committee).
PRE REQUISITES:
The successful candidate(s) must have one or more of the following:
- At least 3 years of experience in management reporting , and/or
- Strong product knowledge in their respective areas, either in operations or product management roles. Example, Trades, Cash management, Global Markets, Core Banking or Custody, and/or
- Strong inclination to information technology
- IT literate able to work with Microsoft Excel, Access and able to write basic SQL script, strong understanding in relationship database and dataware housing concept.
- Experience in BAU and/or projects would be an added advantage.
- Managerial experience would be required for team lead positions.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Analytical, systematic in problem decomposition, evaluation and solution recommendation.
- Ability to trouble shoot and perform / own end to end investigations and solutions.
- Ability to work across multiple disciplines and functions to perform impact analysis and propose viable solutions.
- Able to work independently, selfstarter and fast learner.
- Good team player and able to work under pressure and tight timeline
